The National Transport Commission has launched a major review of the eastern state truck laws, following strong lobbying by the ATA and its members. The review will start from first principles – a blank sheet of paper – and will aim to improve safety and slash red tape.
An expert panel has been appointed to assist the review. The panel includes trucking operator and president of SARTA Sharon Middleton AM, QTA CEO Gary Mahon and NTRTA executive officer Louise Bilato.
During this session, you will:
- get an overview from the NTC about the review
- hear from the NHVR about the parts of the law that work — and the parts that don’t
- discuss what the eastern states can learn from Western Australia
- have your say about the truck laws.
Later in the program, our workshop and collaboration sessions will take a deep dive into how to fix driver fatigue and access/OSOM permits.
